The CWL Plumstead

Charity   Work    Loyalty

In practicing Charity we perform acts of good for the Love of God and neighbour.

Work represents service to the Church. To each other and the wider society in general.

We at the Catholic Women’s League are Loyal to Christ’s teachings and to the Church.

             Aims:

  • To encourage women to develop their spiritual lives
  • And in a practical way to be involved in the work of the church in serving the community.

The Catholic Women’s League Plumstead has been operating at St Pius X since October 2011.

Currently there are 19 members who meet once a month where various matters are discussed

accordant with the aims outlined above.

Presently the CWL has CHOC HOUSE in Firfield road as its branch of charity.

CHOC provides accommodation and support for children who are undergoing cancer treatment in Cape Town,

as well as for an accompanying parent or guardian.

Each month we provide items that CHOC House has requested, items such as

  • cereals
  • toiletries
  • cleaning materials

In 2012 we provided one of their ‘wish list’ items, a garden table and benches, procured with funds generated at our

Bingo evening held in March 2012.

Additionally the CWL is expected to support diocesan charities, Nazareth House is an example.

CWL is more than just meetings and fundraising, and prefer to be viewed as a fellowship of women filled with the Holy Spirit who enjoy themselves in the act of loving mutual support of each other and the community.

The CWL meet on the second Wednesday of each month after 7pm Mass.
